Mr. & Mrs. mugs:
Cookie sheet and rolling pin:
Oven mitt and spatula:
"Kiss the Cook" apron, measuring spoons and whisk:
(again, all hand sculpted out of fondant)
"His and Hers" towels- how the theme started!

Life's a Beach!

Congratulations, Carol & Tobin!
This cake was made and delivered to Westerly, Rhode Island for my wonderful cousin and her husband. She wanted a beach themed cake and loved the idea of using Adirondack chairs as a cake topper- super cute!

We also supplemented the serving size of the cake with cupcakes (some plain, some decorated with white chocolate shells colored coral to match the color scheme). This concept has become very popular for a few reasons some of which include: it adds a different element to the traditional stand alone cake, it generally is less expensive, and it's much easier to serve!
Two tiers with ivory buttercream frosting:

White chocolate shells scattered on some of the cupcakes to give them color.

Cherry Blossom Wedding Cake

This funky cherry blossom cake was created for my co-workers outdoor wedding reception in Rhode Island. She loved the deep purple color with the white contrast. For added effect I sprayed the entire cake in an edible, opal sheen to make it 'pop'. The flowers were hand made and this cake certainly put a spin on the traditional pink and brown cherry blossom cake!
Congrats, Jessica & Paul!

Elegant Simplicity

I was lucky enough to get the chance to make wedding cakes for a few really wonderful couples over the summer. Both of these brides wanted to go with a more traditional cake with an ivory buttercream frosting and fresh flowers supplied by their florists.
Linda really loves anything Southwestern so she wanted her flowers and cake to reflect those colors- teal, rust and purple. I made the buttercream to look a little like stucco and then placed the cake on a cake plateau for the height.

I also had the pleasure of attending Linda & Jon's wedding. It was a beautiful reception site in a castle- very romantic. We danced the night away and had a blast before it was time to leave and wish the newlyweds luck as they headed off to Switzerland.
Congratulations Linda & Jon!

I also had the pleasure of working with one of the most easy going brides I have ever met, Jill. Jill, wanting to keep things simple, asked that I made an ivory cake with a brown ribbon around the bottom of each tier.
(I wasn't able to get a picture of the cake with the flowers on it because the florist hadn't arrived at the reception hall by the time I was finished with my set up. They were placed on the cake by the chef. )
This just in: Jill emailed me this morning with pictures of her and her husband cutting their cake and a close up of the beautiful couple on their day. The funny thing is, that I have actually never met either of them so it was great to finally be able to put faces with the emails and cake! I will try to update (with Jill's permission of course) a couple of other pictures from their day so you can see the finished cake with the flowers.
Congratulations, Jill & Bobby!!!

Congratulations, Wes!!!

My cousin Wes graduated from Dracut High this summer and is now attending UMASS Amherst. We are all so proud of him and I was so happy to be able to make his graduation cake. My aunt and I came up with a 'staircase' theme and around the top of the cake, I wrote: "Good Luck on Your Next Steps!"

Congratulations, Idiot (Napoleon Dynamite quote- Wes is actually quite brilliant!)

Love those dimples!

Girly Graduation Cake 101

Congrats to Renee on graduating from BU! I was happy to make this cake for her! The second picture shows what happens when my sister comes over to help with cakes- the cake making sessions turn into modeling shoots! Ha, ha, ha!

When a Cake Catches your Eye Disguised as a Big Pizza Pie...that's a Carat Cake!!!

This cake was made for my dad to bring to work for a pizza party they hosted. He works at the Citi Center/Wang Center in Boston and I love making cakes for them!
I really had so much fun making this because of all the little details. Make sure to look at all three pictures and click on them to make the details bigger!

Top of Their Class...and School!

This cake was ordered for my cousin and her class for their 8th Grade graduation. They come from a very small school with only 8 students in her grade! The moms wanted a replica of the school along with each student and something that represented them. This was definitely a challenge for me since each figure can take at least 1 hour!
Congratulations, Elizabeth- we're so proud of you!!!
The details can be seen in the following pictures:

Party Animals!

This cake was made for Adnan's 3rd Birthday. What makes this cake even more special, is that I did his 1st and 2nd birthday and I can't believe he is already 3! I really feel like it was yesterday his mom contacted me about making his Curious George 1st Birthday cake. Since then, I was also honored to be asked (by a friend of his mom) to make mom's baby shower cake. I look forward to making cakes for Baby #2 in the future too!
The theme of this cake matched the invitations and party supplies:

Rock and Roll Over on Your Birthday!

This cake was made for twin boys on their 1st Birthday. Their mom brought the toy truck- everything else is edible:

Under the Sea of Frosting

These cupcakes were made to go along with a Little Mermaid birthday theme. You may not be able to tell from the photos, but they were placed in Little Mermaid cupcake holders. The mom also had little Ariel cupcake toppers she had at home so she just requested the cupcakes be decorated like the ocean floor:
The little oysters had edible pearls in each one:

Two Very Special One Year Old Birthdays!

I was very excited when I was asked by each of these very proud moms if I would make a cake for their daughters' first birthdays. I've know both women for a while now and can't believe their babies are already a year old! Congrats to both families on a wonderful year!

Happy Birthday, Hannah!
Hannah's fondant dress was made to look like the dress she was wearing for her big day- such a cute idea mom had!

'Ai, 'ai iho Mea 'ono (Eat Cake- in Hawaiian)

I love doing cakes for this family- they always love to "go big or go home"! The mom is a fabulous party planner and the birthday is always guaranteed to be a hit hit- and perfectly decorated. I am happy to be able to contribute! This is what we came up with for little Ava's 3rd Birthday:

A Couple of Characters!

These few cakes are examples of a popular theme- making fondant figures of the celebrated person surrounding them with their favorite things- or like we see in the first cake- their famous sayings!

This double tiered fondant cake was created for a very wise man on his 50th Birthday. His family refers to his sayings as "Paulyologies" and wanted to make sure that was apparent in his cake. I thought they were hysterical and was happy to make them the focus of the cake- this is what I came up with:

The second cake was made for another birthday. For some reason, I can not find the pictures showing the details around the cake. Some of the elements were: a cassette tape, book, logo of the family gas station business, music notes, a red hat and a heart with the word family on it.

Yee-haaw...Round Everyone Up- There's a 30th to Celebrate!!!

This two tiered cake was ordered by the birthday boy's wife. She wanted to make sure to incorporate all of his favorite things. Each element is hand-made and painted.
